Premium Suit Linings

Suit Lining Options at Manhattan Tailors Hong Kong

The lining of a bespoke suit is more than a practical interior finish — it affects how the jacket drapes, how it feels against the body, how it moves when worn, and how long it lasts. At Manhattan Tailors, every lining choice is made by the client during the initial consultation, with guidance from our master tailors on what works best for the garment, fabric, and intended use.

Full Lining

The interior of the jacket is entirely lined from shoulder to hem. Full lining gives the jacket a clean interior finish, makes it easier to slip on over a shirt or knitwear, and adds a layer of structure to the outer cloth. Standard for formal suits, overcoats, and winter suiting.

Half Lining

Lining covers the upper body — chest, back, and sleeves — but the lower half of the jacket interior is left unlined, showing the inside of the outer cloth with a clean-finished edge. Half lining allows the jacket to breathe and move more freely, making it better suited to tropical weights and warmer climates. Common in summer suiting and unstructured jackets.

Quarter Lining

Only the sleeves and a portion of the upper back are lined. The most breathable option — often seen in very light linen or cotton jackets for tropical and resort wear.

Lining Fabric Options

Manhattan Tailors offers lining fabrics in bemberg (cupro), silk, satin, and printed cotton. Bemberg is the most practical choice — breathable, smooth, and durable. Silk adds luxury and a characteristic drape. Printed linings — including personal monogram patterns, paisley, and striped designs — add a personalised interior detail that remains hidden until the jacket is removed.

Sleeve Lining

Sleeves are typically fully lined regardless of the jacket lining choice, as the lining assists in putting on and removing the jacket smoothly. Sleeve lining fabric can be matched to or contrasted with the jacket body lining. Contact our Tsim Sha Tsui showroom at +852 9773 2691 to discuss lining options for your next bespoke commission.
