Europe is home to some of the world's finest tailoring traditions — Savile Row in London, the Neapolitan masters of Naples, the Milanese casa of Italian suiting. Yet many European professionals are drawn to Hong Kong tailoring for a specific combination of qualities: the technical excellence of the Hong Kong bespoke tradition, the extraordinary access to the world's finest European mill fabrics (often at source prices unavailable in Europe itself), and a price point that sits below comparable London or Milanese commissions. Manhattan Tailors visits key European cities to serve this market directly.
Germany: Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg
Germany is one of our most active European trunk show markets. Frankfurt — Europe's financial capital — has a large community of banking, finance and legal professionals with demanding dress standards and a deep appreciation of quality tailoring. Our Frankfurt trunk shows are held in private hotel suites in the Westend and Sachsenhausen districts, convenient for the banking quarter. Munich visits serve the city's growing finance and technology community, with appointments typically held in the Maximilianstrasse or Schwabing areas. Hamburg appointments cover the shipping, media and trade community with visits to the HafenCity and Innenstadt districts.
German clients at our trunk shows have a pronounced preference for quality cloth over novelty — VBC Super 130s in navy and charcoal, Loro Piana Four Seasons for travel suits and flannel for the German winter — and a tendency toward conservative, precise business silhouettes. We find that German clients are among the most informed and engaged at trunk show consultations.
France: Paris and Lyon
Paris is one of the world's great fashion capitals, but its bespoke tailoring tradition — while serious and distinguished — is far smaller in volume than London or Hong Kong. French clients who discover Hong Kong tailoring are typically experienced with quality dressing, have strong aesthetic opinions and are interested in the combination of craftsmanship and fabric access that our trunk shows provide. Our Paris appointments are held in the 1st, 8th and 16th arrondissements, serving the business, diplomatic and fashion-adjacent professional community. Lyon visits cover the city's substantial finance and technology sector.
French clients tend toward Continental silhouettes — suppressed waist, structured shoulder, clean silhouette — and have specific interest in Italian and French mill fabrics, including Dormeuil and Scabal cloths that we also carry alongside VBC and Loro Piana.
Austria: Vienna
Vienna has a distinguished tailoring tradition of its own — the Viennese master tailors of the early 20th century were among the finest in Europe — and the city's professional class retains a strong appreciation of quality dressing. Our Vienna trunk show visits serve the diplomatic, banking and arts community, with appointments held in the 1st district (Innere Stadt) near the Ringstrasse. Austrian clients have particularly strong interest in Austrian and German wool fabrics alongside the Italian and English mills we carry, and we accommodate Schoeller and Zignone fabric requests at Vienna appointments.
How the European Trunk Show Works
The process is identical to any Manhattan Tailors consultation: our master cutter attends with a full range of fabric swatches from our mill collection, takes complete measurements, discusses style and specification in detail, and places the order for construction in Hong Kong. Completed garments are shipped directly to your European address via DHL Courier with full insurance, typically within four to six weeks of the consultation. Communication throughout is in English and Mandarin; most European consultations are conducted entirely in English.
Register your interest for a European trunk show visit. Include your city, preferred dates and a brief note about the commission you have in mind, and we will add you to the notification list for upcoming visits.
