How Group Bespoke Works

For a wedding party of three or more, we hold a group consultation session at our Nathan Road atelier. All measurements are taken on the same day or across two consecutive days, ensuring everyone is processed simultaneously and garments are timed for completion together. Our master cutter manages each individual's fitting requirements independently — a groomsman who is 6'4" requires very different adjustments to one who is 5'8" and broad-shouldered.

The brief for a group commission is typically: same cloth, coordinated but individually tailored. For example, the groom in midnight navy double-breasted with peaked lapels; groomsmen in the same midnight navy but single-breasted with notch lapels. Or matching grey trousers with slightly different jacket cuts. The details are discussed at the group consultation.

Fabric Selection for Wedding Groups

Choosing a fabric that works on a range of body types and skin tones is important for group commissions. Navy blue and charcoal grey are universally flattering. Lighter colours — mid-grey, cream, light blue — work best for summer weddings in good light. We advise strongly against highly distinctive patterns (bold checks, wide stripes) for groomsmen suits — they suit the groom as an individual choice but can be overwhelming across a group of five or six.

All group commissions use cloth from the same bolt where possible, ensuring colour and texture are perfectly matched across all garments.

Timeline for Group Commissions

We recommend a minimum of ten to twelve weeks before the wedding date for a group commission, to allow all members' fittings to be accommodated within our production schedule. For overseas groomsmen who cannot attend in-person fittings, we accommodate remote measurement submissions with our postal fitting service for the most complex cases.

Manhattan Tailors offers preferential pricing for group wedding commissions of three or more garments. The discount applies to each suit in the group and increases with the size of the party.
