The bespoke experience is meaningfully different, and knowing what to expect helps you relax, make better decisions and get the most from every appointment. Here is a complete walkthrough of your first bespoke commission.

The First Consultation

Your first appointment is a conversation, not a sales presentation. Our master cutter will ask about your lifestyle, your intended use for the suit (daily business, important occasions, both), any existing suits you are particularly happy or unhappy with, your travel habits and climate considerations. We want to understand who you are and what you need before any measuring tape is produced. This conversation typically takes 20–30 minutes and is the foundation of everything that follows.

There is no pressure to commit at the first consultation. Many clients visit, have a conversation, take fabric bunches away to consider and return a week later to place their order. We welcome this — the more thought you put into your brief, the better the result.

Measurements and Pattern Drafting

Once you decide to proceed, our master cutter takes 20–25 body measurements. This is not simply "chest 42, waist 36, sleeve 33" — we measure the slope of each shoulder individually, the angle of your posture, the position of your collar bone, the pitch of your arms, the difference in length between your left and right sides. Each measurement is recorded and used to draft a unique paper pattern — your pattern, which belongs to no other client.

The Basted Fitting

Approximately two to three weeks into the process, you return for the basted fitting — the most distinctive element of true bespoke tailoring. The jacket is assembled in rough form using a temporary (basted) stitch, unlined and deliberately over-sized. This shell is tried on and examined meticulously for fit. Creases, pulls, imbalances and style adjustments are marked directly on the fabric. This is where the magic happens: corrections are made to the actual pattern in response to your actual body in that actual moment. No photograph or measurement set can replicate what the basted fitting achieves.

The Final Fitting and Collection

After the basted fitting corrections are incorporated, the suit is fully assembled, lined, buttonholed and pressed. You return for the final fitting — at this stage the suit should be very close to perfect, with only minor length, hem or pressing adjustments remaining. Most clients collect their suit at or shortly after the final fitting. Our team shows you how to care for the garment and answers any questions before you leave.
